Summer Safety Tips

Leave fireworks to the professionals.

Barbecue grills should only be used outside.  Make sure there is enough space between the grill
and buildings, plants/trees, air conditioning units, and other objects.  Inspect propane hoses for
cracks and leaks.
NEVER use gasoline to light a charcoal barbecue.

KEEP GASOLINE STORED OUTSIDE in a shed or detached garage.  Store only small
quantities, and only use an approved container.  Gasoline should
NEVER be used as a cleaning
agent or solvent.

Dispose of old gasoline, oil, paint, and other substances properly.
NEVER pour these
substances down storm drains or waste pipes.

Open burning is illegal.  This includes fire pits and chimeneas!

Inground pools must be surrounded by a fence with a locking gate.  The gate must be secured
when the pool is not in use.  In the case of above ground pools, the ladder must be locked in the
upright position.

NEVER allow children to swim unsupervised.

Swimming aides and floatation devices such as "swimmies" and pool toys are not life-saving
devices.  They should never be used as a substitute for the ability to swim.

Inspect pool drains to make sure that they are secured properly and not damaged.

Keep pool chemicals out of reach of children.
