Install/test CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) DETECTORS. Remember - CO is tasteless, colorless, and odorless.
Keep FIRE HYDRANTS clear of snow and debris.
HAVE YOUR CHIMNEY CLEANED to remove buildups of soot and debris.
Place CANDLES on a secure surface in a sturdy noncombustible holder that is large enough to catch wax drippings. Keep them away from combustibles, especially curtains, books, and paper. NEVER leave them unattended.
Clean LINT TRAPS on clothes dryers after every load. Vacuum the exhaust hose at least once a year. If the host is made of ribbed vinyl, replace it with one made of aluminum to reduce the risk of it kinking or catching fire.
Give SPACE HEATERS space - leave at least three (3) feet between the heater and other objects. Keep the heater unplugged when not in use. NEVER leave them unattended.
NEVER use an oven or stove to heat a room.
Have your HEATING UNIT professionally cleaned and serviced.
KEEP GASOLINE STORED OUTSIDE in a shed or detached garage. Store only small quantities, and only use an approved container.
